This week, OneSpace Director of Impact Leigh Carter shares her Top 5 Ways to Incorporate Social Impact into Your Business.

  1. Become a Mission Driven organization. Develop an effective mission statement that resonates with your organization. Test all partnerships and executive decisions against your mission to ensure that decisions are made in alignment with your mission and brand. Weaving your mission through the fabric of your brand can not only keep you on track to achieve your mission but it will also help to relay your social commitments to your clients.

  2. CO-LLAB-ORATION. The single most important and effective way to have a social impact in your community is through collaboration. Work with your community, local non-profits and fellow businesses to make a positive social change in your community.

  3. Be community focused. Be aware of the community that your business serves. Chat with your neighbours. Are there gaps in services that your company can fill? Is there a social issue that needs to be addressed? Use your platform and leverage as a business to engage in meaningful conversations around the issues that are affecting your community.

  4. Create a giving program. Identify causes that align with your mission or brand and support them financially.

  5. Be a champion. Promote and support fellow businesses that are also committed to having a positive social impact. Use your wallet and social media presence to uplift fellow businesses of marginalized folks.
